The vulnerability of man The eyes that shine less than those of the younger buck but reflect the reality of the endless chase exposes his vulnerability. Not quite lost but never quite found. He is the vulnerable man. The peace that didn't come from a place of fulfillment but from a place of accepting the body’s limitations still he will drop to his knees and suffer without ease, the vulnerable man. He suffers for his dreams. His desire is no longer frantic and chaotic. His lust burns like an endless ember passion spent, belief was no more than predicament bondage at the end of the day. He is He is the vulnerable man. His smile when our eyes met was soft, manipulation not even a thought. He was happy in that moment for he expected no more than a nod and a smile in return. Yet those eyes still sparkle, the vulnerable man. Oh yes. The vulnerable man has no heart for the games for he has wasted enough time not knowing the rules. He moves slowly each step having meaning. Self flagellation sits like stones on his mind. Each welt a combination of magic and disappointment yet not a one does he regret. You can see it in his eyes. Sense it in his posture. Read it in his pleasure in pleasing. He remembers the day when he thought he knew it all and lost everything he touched. He is now a vulnerable man choosing to be vulnerable so he can be found. When my finger lifted the chin that dropped in shyness he met my eyes head on. There was no fear no do me no what’s next. Each second stretched into moments that lingered when he lay his head down in his own bed. His eyes hover in my subconscious. It is hard not to remember a vulnerable man. It is the vulnerability that dreams of being understood the whisper of a smile when it is recognized. The love in his hands his gentle lips on my toes that brings my thoughts to the vulnerable man. Deference not out of fear or ass kissing but at the core of his being he believes in a hierarchy not because he needs to grovel but for the promise of no more heavy decisions. To simply have the opportunity to be all of whom he truly is. And I just kept thinking...and Vegas came to mind! |
